One of the products within professional photography and videography that has more recently been used are "helmet cameras". The most renowned camera is the GoPro. Since it's conception in 2004, GoPros have been used to bring high energy extreme action video from the source. They are known for being lightweight, rugged, wearable (head-mounted) or mountable in unusual places such as outside planes, cars, or boats. The camera is now entering it's eighth round of reproduction with the Hero3+. It boasts the highest resolution, an increased field of view, and better focus. While at PhotoPlus Expo, I had the opportunity to see how the newest GoPro family is getting it's own line of accessories that will up the anti even more for these versatile little cameras, the new glass filters from Polar Pro . These pieces of glass will make any video shot from your Hero3 look that much better. Here's how:
The Hero3+ series will be releasing soon, make sure to pay attention to Polar Pro's website! If you shoot with a GoPro Hero3, take a serious look at these filters, they will transform how you shoot.
KEY FEATURES:
- Easy to take on and off, accessory attaches to original housing.
- Small and easy to pack.
- Main filter types: Polarizer, Macro, Red/Magenta, Neutral Density.
- Macro filter brings camera focus to as close as 2 inches away, 10 inches closer than without it.
- Warranty covers full refund for those unhappy with product, no questions asked.
PERSONAL REMARKS:
After seeing the difference these filters make, I can't imagine why anyone who was shooting seriously with their GoPro would not have these. Compared to the other filters on the market, the Polar Pro version blows them away. I couldn't find any other filters that you could attach directly to your camera. That convenience alone is reason to pick up one of these. However, what really won me over was the macro filter. The quality and sharpness it allows you to get with the already wide view of the GoPro is absolutely beautiful. To me, it is more than a 'filter', it is a lens accessory. The practical and artistic uses for it are endless, ESPECIALLY with the macro-red filter combo. Scuba diving videos will never be the same. My only hope is that Polar Pro continues to come out with innovative filters for these cameras as more and more people are using them on a daily basis.
